Oil Spill Property Damage

You are entitled to compensation for any damage to your property which is caused by the Gulf Oil Spill. The Romano Law Group, lead by John Romano, has the experience and the dedication which uniquely qualifies us to help you recover damages from the responsible parties: BP, Haliburton and Transocean. These defendants’ lack of safety training, failure to check and properly operate equipment, failure to properly plug the leak afterwards, corporate irresponsibility, and carelessness have caused untold harm to thousands of businesses and individuals.

The Oil Spill has Harmed Individuals and Businesses

Residents and businesses have suffered serious damage to their livelihoods, homes, equipment, boats, and personal property. Restaurants, wholesalers, retailers, crabbers, shrimpers, oyster harvesters, hotels, developers, and fishermen have been and will continue to be devastated by the oil spill. Tourism has also been harmed. BP, Haliburton, Transocean were at the docks having the survivors of the blast and those affected by the oil spill signing waivers not to sue! They then greedily focused on capturing and saving the oil from the leak rather than focusing on plugging the leak and saving the environment! They are saving their hides and profits rather than saving the businesses and the environment.

The Oil Pollution Act (OPA)

The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 is a trust fund set up as a result of the Exxon Valdez disaster of 1989. As most recall the Exxon spill occurred in Prince William Sound, Alaska, and approximately 11 million gallons of oil spilled from the tanker to spread across 900 miles of shoreline. The current spill has dumped more than 4 million gallons of oil already and some expect it to eclipse the Exxon spill as the worst in history.  Under OPA those damaged can claim damages (natural resource trustees), cause clean up, and receive compensation for : property damage (anyone who owns or leases property damaged in a spill), boat damage (anyone who owns or leases boats damaged in a spill), loss of profits and earning capacity (anyone will spill-related loss of profits or income) and loss of subsistence use of natural resources (anyone who relies on natural resources affected by the spill). The oil companies have legions of lawyers ready to fight for their clients, The Romano Law Group stands ready to help you prove your case under OPA and many other federal and state laws which give you rights to be justly compensated.
